Fine-dining restaurant — MarrakechBookings +140% via Instagram and controlled direct booking.
In Marrakech, a fine-dining restaurant relied too heavily on booking platforms and their commissions. Webotic built an Instagram/Meta presence targeting locals and FR/EN tourists, activated Google Business Profile and shifted booking to WhatsApp and the website.

The challenge · breaking free from platform dependence
The restaurant filled its dining room largely through booking platforms, at the cost of high commissions taken on every cover and a customer relationship entirely captured by third parties. Its local awareness stayed limited against dense competition in Marrakech, where many venues fight for the same attention. Its French- and English-speaking tourist clientele — a high-spending audience seeking dining experiences — was poorly addressed for lack of bilingual content and a structured presence on the channels they check before booking. On Instagram, a few scattered posts weren't enough to create desire; on Google, the listing stayed incomplete and unengaging. With no direct base, every booking depended on an intermediary and an outside algorithm, with no way to build loyalty or re-contact guests. The goal: build clean acquisition, reduce platform dependence and capture both audiences — local regulars and passing tourists — on owned channels, from first contact to confirmed booking.
- Heavy dependence on platforms and their commissions.
- Limited local awareness in a competitive market.
- Underused FR/EN tourist clientele.
- No owned direct-booking base.
The approach · Instagram, GBP and direct booking
Webotic built an Instagram editorial line showcasing the cuisine, atmosphere and experience, produced in French and English to reach both locals and tourists. Polished dish photography, behind-the-scenes stories and ambiance reels built a concrete desire to come and dine. Geo-targeted Meta campaigns focused on Marrakech for regulars and tourist areas plus traveler audiences for FR/EN visitors, with retargeting on people who viewed the profile or website without booking. In parallel, Google Business Profile was optimized — photos, menus, reviews, hours, review responses — to capture local search and 'restaurant Marrakech' at the exact moment of intent. Booking was redirected to WhatsApp Business and an on-site module, to cut platform commissions and build a direct, loyalty-friendly relationship. Consolidated reporting in Looker Studio made it possible to track each channel and adjust targeting and budgets toward the most profitable sources, week after week.

The results · a table filling its room directly
Over six months, bookings rose 140%, driven by an Instagram presence that became a genuine acquisition channel and by markedly stronger local visibility on Google Business Profile. The share of direct bookings, via WhatsApp and the website, gained 25 points against platforms, easing the commissions paid and giving the restaurant full control of its customer relationship — with the ability to re-contact and build loyalty. French- and English-speaking tourists now make up half the flow, a high-value audience captured through bilingual content and differentiated geographic targeting. Instagram reach on local and FR/EN targets was multiplied by 3.2, durably widening the pool of future guests. Beyond the numbers, the restaurant finally has clean, predictable and durable acquisition, far less exposed to intermediaries and their algorithms, that it can keep building on. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
- Why favor direct booking over platforms?
- Because platforms take a commission on every cover and keep the customer relationship. By shifting to WhatsApp and an on-site module, the restaurant cuts those costs, keeps direct contact with its guests and can build loyalty without an intermediary.
- How do you reach both locals and tourists?
- With bilingual French-English content and differentiated geographic targeting: Marrakech residents via local campaigns, tourists via traveler areas and audiences. Google Business Profile also captures search at the moment of intent, when a visitor is looking for where to dine.
- Is Instagram enough for a fine-dining restaurant?
- Instagram is a key channel to show the cuisine and atmosphere, but it works best combined with Google Business Profile for local search and direct booking to convert. It's the whole — visibility, desire, controlled booking — that makes the difference.
- How long before results show?
- The first upticks in traffic and booking requests appear within the first weeks. Significant growth — here +140% in bookings — builds over several months, the time needed to build local awareness and a tourist audience.
